Experience the superior operation of Evenheat's Quiet Drive Solid State Relay System, featuring a tightly controlled heating element for optimal performance that's designed to last.

What is a relay?

Solid state relays (SSR) provide a powerful, reliable alternative to the traditional mechanical relays which contain metal contacts that open and close with an electrically arcing magnet coil. Unlike their mechanical counterparts, SSRs contain a single, solid block of semiconductor material with no moving parts or arcing. For kilns, SSRs offer superior temperature control and numerous advantages over their mechanical counterparts.

Advantage 1 - Eternal Life (you get the idea)

The durability advantage of SSRs is clear; with no moving parts and no arcing, they have a much longer life expectancy than mechanical relays. If you've ever heard the clicking sound of a kiln or furnace during use, that's the sound of its mechanical relays operating. With repeated cycles of on/off, these relays experience considerable wear over time, eventually failing and leaving you with a costly repair. But, with Evenheat's SSRs, you can expect silent, reliable operation throughout the lifetime of your kiln or oven!

Advantage 2 - Keep it tight! (The temperature, that is)

With mechanical relays, the balancing act between good control and relay life creates a limit of no more than one cycle per 10 to 14 seconds. This allows for good control, but for really tight temperature control, this time must be shortened. On the other hand, a solid state relay operates at an incredible 120 times per second. This provides a great opportunity for the control to make even faster decisions, resulting in precise temperature control. All of Evenheat's controls, except for the Set-Pro, are designed to utilize the speed of a solid state relay.

Advantage 3 - Longer Heating Element Life

The solid state relays used in the Evenheat KO Series Heat Treating Oven are designed with Zero Crossing, which means they turn on and off at exact 0V when the AC power line voltage fluctuates. This extends the lifespan of heating elements, which should last significantly longer than those powered by mechanical relays that lack this feature. With Zero Crossing, the heating elements experience the love of being powered on and off at the correct voltage. Zero Crossing is the perfect match for heating elements!

Better by Design - 30 Amp Rated

Evenheat made sure to choose reliable solid state relays that are rated for 30 amps while running them at only 15 amps. This gives them the extra headroom they need to ensure that the system will work well and continue to work well over time. Plus, running the SSRs at half of their full capacity means they remain cool under a 15 amp load, staying completely within the derating curve for proper operation. This way, Evenheat can guarantee their SSRs will last the life of the unit.

Better by Design - SSR Heatsinks Externally Mounted

Efficient SSR performance requires proper cooling, which Evenheat ensures by mounting its SSR heatsinks externally to let air pass freely. To avoid heat build-up, they don't place these sinks within the control enclosure. Further, mounting the SSR heatsinks internally would lead to premature failure of the components and reduce their life-cycle. Evenheat solves these issues by placing these heatsinks on standoffs that allow a gap between the control enclosure and SSR. This gap increases air flow, as well as preventing heat transfer between the two, for ultimate SSR operation - confirmed by a 6 year zero failure record!

Better by Design

Temperature regulation is the most vital aspect of the kiln. Evenheat partners with SDS Industries and Bartlett Instrument to bring you the leading design, technology, and performance. Its renowned control is the TAP, a touchscreen with the highest power. Developed with all methods of firing and heat processing in mind, the TAP epitomizes advanced control. For those who prefer a more classic style, the Rampmaster control features full firing control with a familiar 4-digit setup.

TAP II

The Evenheat TAP II is a top-of-the-line temperature controller that is so intuitive, so powerful, and so user-friendly that you will be blown away! With just one touch, you can access your heat treat programs, which are displayed in easy-to-read text. Then, the TAP II will walk you through creating and refining your programs until they are exactly what you need. You can save as many programs as you want, and you don't have to worry about losing them. What's more, the TAP II is designed to be incredibly consistent and accurate, and when paired with the Quiet Drive Solid State output, you can count on top-notch performance! If that weren't enough, you can also easily access the app for the TAP II, available on iOS and Android, through its Wi-Fi or Ethernet ports. Simply amazing!

Rampmaster 3

The Rampmaster 3 is the gold standard in heat treating ovens and comes complete with a four-digit display, twelve program slots to store your preferred heat treat programs, a numbered keypad, and a program review key. Best of all, it's compatible with the revolutionary Quiet Drive Solid State Relay System for even greater control and convenience.
