You’ve just discovered the ultimate vitrigraph kiln: the Evenheat V8, purpose-built for vitrigraph work with innovative features you won’t find anywhere else.
What is Vitrigraph?
Vitrigraph refers to the process of heating glass to a molten state and allowing it to flow out through the bottom of the kiln, where it can be collected and shaped by the user. A true vitrigraph kiln is designed to be elevated, ensuring clear and easy access to the molten glass as it exits.
Why Choose the Evenheat V8?
The V8 features an 8" x 8" chamber and a strategically placed thermocouple, allowing the use of pots up to 7-1/2" in diameter. Its precisely sized glass exit point ensures smooth and reliable pulls for cane work.
The V8’s controls are housed in a pivoting enclosure that adjusts to your preferred viewing angle, whether you’re working at a low, mid, or high position. This attention to ergonomics makes it as comfortable as it is functional.
Stand-Out Stand Design
The V8’s stand-alone stand includes a convenient tool shelf and rod/cane holder, giving you the “extra hand” you’ve always wished for. It also features a power cord catch to keep the cord safe, organized, and out of the way while you work.

V8 - Your Vitrigraph Kiln
Vitrigraph Base
The V8 Vitrigraph model features a specially designed floor with a 2.75-inch hole precision-machined into its base, specifically for conducting Vitrigraph projects. Additionally, the V8 serves a dual purpose, functioning as a standard kiln when the base is swapped with an alternative one that lacks the Vitrigraph cut-out. (This is an optional purchase.) This versatility makes the V8 an exceptionally multi-functional tool.
Vitrigraph Pots up to 7.5" in Diameter
The V8 stands out for its optimal utilization of floor space, offering the most effective use of space among kilns of its size. This efficiency in space usage is achieved by strategically placing the thermocouple (the temperature sensor) at the corner of the chamber, rather than on a flat side.
The kiln accommodates Vitrigraph pots with diameters up to 7.5 inches. This larger size allows for more material to be processed in a single session, reducing the need for frequent reloading and waiting.
When it comes to Vitrigraph projects, the V8's design significantly reduces the limitations on project size that are often encountered with other brands, enhancing its versatility and appeal.
Stackable Design
The V8 Vitrigraph features a modular, stackable design, enabling artists to swiftly transition from a vitrigraph setup to a standard kiln configuration within minutes.
This stackable design not only facilitates quick conversion but also simplifies the placement and setup of the kiln, as each component can be positioned independently. For artists who frequently switch between vitrigraph and standard modes, or for those who travel with their equipment, this stackable functionality proves to be extremely convenient and practical.
Swing View Equipped
The V8's temperature controls are integrated into Evenheat's innovative Swing View Adjustable Enclosure.
This feature includes a versatile, swing-up enclosure that enables you to pivot and adjust the control panel to your preferred viewing and programming angle. After setting it up, you can easily lay it back down, allowing for clear visibility from across your studio. The process is straightforward and user-friendly.
The Swing View is particularly compatible with touchscreen controls such as the TAP II, Icon+, and Icon, as it allows for the viewing angle to be precisely aligned. This feature is sure to enhance your studio experience.
Swing View Equipped - DOWNWARD FACING!
Vitrigraph kilns are often positioned above eye level, making the controls harder to see and operate—but not anymore.
Evenheat enhanced its Swing View feature on the V8 Vitrigraph, allowing the controls to swing downward for easier access when the kiln is elevated.
It’s one of our favorite innovations! It’s practical, intuitive, and works seamlessly.

Relay Access Port
The V8 is designed with a convenient Relay Access Port, which simplifies the process of replacing relays without the hassle of removing the entire control panel. Why is it necessary to have this type of access with a unit that comes standard with a solid-state design where the relay is expected to last the life of kiln?
Because solid-state units also feature a mechanical relay as a crucial safety component.
This intelligent design addresses the inherent nature of solid-state systems, which are never completely on or off and can generate a slight, almost imperceptible leakage current to the elements. The mechanical relay eliminates this issue by physically breaking the circuit, ensuring full isolation and zero leakage. It operates only twice during a firing cycle: once at the beginning to allow current flow and once at the end to completely cut it off. Engineered for long-lasting reliability, the safety relay rarely requires replacement, and the Relay Access Port makes maintenance simple and hassle-free if needed. This is innovation and dependability in action!
Firebrick ConstructionThe V8 Vitrigraph is built entirely from firebrick, making repairs straightforward, affordable, and hassle-free.
The same applies to the heating element—it's simple to remove, easy to replace, and cost-effective.
At Evenheat, they design their kilns with easy maintenance and repair in mind, and the V8 Vitrigraph is no exception.

Exploring the Advantages of Solid-State Relays: A Technological Revolution in Kiln Design
Solid-state relays represent a substantial improvement over traditional mechanical relays, which rely on physical contacts and electromagnetism. SSRs employ a solid semiconductor, eliminating moving parts, thereby minimizing wear and significantly improving the precision of kiln temperature control.
Advantage 1 - Enhanced Longevity:
SSRs are renowned for their extended lifespan, free from the mechanical wear and electrical arcing that are common issues in mechanical relays. Mechanical relays can be identified by their characteristic clicking sound, indicative of operation and eventual wear, necessitating maintenance. By contrast, Evenheat's SSRs operate silently and reliably, significantly prolonging their functional life to align with the lifespan of your kiln.
Advantage 2 - Superior Temperature Control:
While mechanical relays typically cycle between 10 to 14 seconds to balance control and durability, SSRs can cycle as frequently as 120 times per second. This rapid cycling allows for swift adjustments and remarkable temperature precision. Every control system from Evenheat, including the sophisticated Icon controller, benefits from the rapid cycling of SSRs, ensuring unmatched accuracy in temperature regulation.
Advantage 3 - Extended Life of Heating Elements:
SSRs employ Zero Crossing technology, activating at the zero-voltage point in AC power cycles. This approach prolongs the life of heating elements by maintaining optimal voltage levels, unlike mechanical relays, which lack this level of precision.
Design Distinction - 30 Amp Capacity:
Evenheat opts for 30-amp rated SSRs but operates them conservatively at 15 amps. This design choice provides a significant safety margin, ensuring that the SSRs function within their derating curve even under a 15-amp load, leading to cooler operation and extended lifespan. This reflects Evenheat's commitment to superior design and safety standards.
Design Distinction - Externally Mounted SSR Heatsinks:
The durability of SSRs is greatly dependent on effective cooling. To address this, Evenheat mounts the SSR heatsinks externally, promoting better airflow and preventing heat buildup inside the control box. This design strategy prevents heat transfer between the enclosure and the SSRs, with standoffs creating an air gap for additional cooling. This thoughtful design guarantees optimal performance of the SSRs, underscored by an impressive six-year record of zero failures.
