Paragon Iguana Front-Loading Ceramic and Pottery Kiln
The Paragon Iguana brings cone-10 power, ergonomic loading, and professional performance to studios that want the comfort of a front-loading kiln in a compact footprint. With 4.1 cubic feet of firing space and industrial-grade construction, it’s built for potters, sculptors, and schools that need daily reliability without the strain of a top-loader. Its 18" × 18" × 22.5" interior, 3" firebrick, and 10,800 watts deliver the strength of a production kiln with easier access and exceptional temperature stability.
Why Choose the Iguana?
The Iguana offers full-chamber access through a front-loading door that swings open 160° on a heavy ½" steel rod with sealed bearings, making loading intuitive whether you’re placing shelves, tall work, tiles, or sculpture. With the included 22" stand, the interior floor height reaches a comfortable 34½", reducing bending strain and making it ideal for artists who find top-loading kilns difficult to use. Extra heavy-duty heating elements provide long service life because they don’t struggle to reach cone 10, even during frequent or demanding firing cycles.
Built for Daily Studio Work
A spring-loaded door latch ensures a tight seal, while a recessed firebrick lip around the doorway contains heat and protects interior edges. Four integrated hand lifts help with positioning the kiln. Industrial-gauge elements are seated in dropped, recessed firebrick grooves for protection and easier replacement. Two tapered peepholes allow wide interior visibility with minimal heat loss. A proportional power system helps maintain even heat distribution throughout the chamber.
Engineered for Durability and Safety
The Iguana’s ventilated, louvered switch box includes a built-in fuse to protect the controller and features a 1½" air gap that keeps electronics cooler for longer life. The kiln also includes a power shut-off switch for added safety. Heavy-gauge steel fully reinforces the bottom under the firebrick, strengthening the base for long-term use. Its exposed-tip Type-K thermocouple is made with special-limit wire, offering fast response and superior accuracy during climbs and holds.
Controller
The Iguana is equipped with the SENTINEL SmartTouch controller, providing cone-fire and ramp-hold programming, diagnostics, and precise scheduling for both high-fire and mid-range ceramic work.
Optional Add-Ons
24" Steel Stand: Raises the loading height further; available with or without casters for mobility or maximum stability.
AOP (Auxiliary Outlet Plug): Supports easy connection to accessories such as the Orton Vent Master; the kiln ships vent-ready with a pre-drilled port.
Orton Vent Master: Recommended for improved firing consistency and fume removal in enclosed studio spaces.
Furniture Kit: Add shelves and posts sized for the Iguana’s chamber to maximize use of the 4.1 cu ft interior.
