120V North American Operation
The KH Series heat treat ovens are tailored specifically for North American users who only have access to 120V, aligning with the standard household voltage in North America.
While these models efficiently achieve the desired temperatures, it's important to note that they take approximately twice as long to heat up compared to their 240V counterparts. Typically, they can reach 1650°F in around 1.5 hours.
Side Opening Door
Heat treating involves the extraction of extremely hot materials from the chamber for quenching. In this process, everything inside the chamber, including the door, becomes very hot. The doors on the KH models are designed to swing outwards and to the side. This design ensures that the intensely heated door is positioned far from you, allowing you to focus safely on the task at hand.
Cool Touch Handle
The handle/latch on the swing-out door is strategically placed at the front, not obscured on the side. This handle, made of phenolic material, remains cool to the touch. It's designed for one-handed operation and also functions as the door latch, providing convenience and ease of use.
Relay Access Port
Evenheat's Heat Treat oven design showcases exceptional ingenuity, particularly with the standard inclusion of the Quiet Drive Solid State relay.
What sets this system apart is the integration of a mechanical relay as a safety feature within the solid-state design. Unlike traditional systems, solid-state units are never fully "on" or "off," which can result in a small leakage current without intervention. The mechanical relay addresses this by completely interrupting the circuit, effectively eliminating any potential leakage.
The mechanical relay activates only twice per firing cycle: at the start to enable current flow to the solid-state system and at the end to fully cut off the current. Although replacing the safety relay is a rare necessity, the Relay Access Port ensures any maintenance is straightforward and hassle-free.
That’s intelligent engineering at its finest!
Door Shield
The KH models are equipped with a door shield that serves dual purposes: it safeguards against damage to the firebrick and also helps in lowering the temperature at the door and handle, enhancing protection and safety.
Swing View Equipped
Evenheat's TAP II and RampMaster 3 temperature controls are integrated into its innovative Swing View Adjustable Enclosure.
This feature comprises a pivotable, swing-up enclosure that enables you to adjust the control to an angle that's comfortable for both viewing and programming. After adjusting, you can simply lay it back down for easy visibility from anywhere in your shop. The process is straightforward and user-friendly.
The Swing View is particularly compatible with touchscreen controls like the TAP II, as it allows for the perfect alignment of the viewing angle. This feature is sure to enhance your user experience.
Loud Alarm Output Jack
The unit comes equipped with a Loud Alarm output jack, allowing for the connection of Evenheat's optional Loud Alarm. This feature delivers an 80db level of attention-grabbing sound, ensuring that you'll never miss a quenching opportunity again. Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with this powerful auditory alert.
2200°F (1205°C) Maximum Temperature
The maximum usable temperature for the KH models is 2200°F (1205°C). This maximum is well within the range for the vast majority of steels used by knife makers and machine shops.
Evenheat's KH 418 model features a side-element-only design borrowed from its LB Series models.
Maximum temperature is limited by the heating element wire used. Evenheat uses a Sandvik Nickel-Chrome alloy wire for all KH model heating elements. This alloy has proven to last, it tends to stay put and generally plays very nice when used at temps below 2200°F.
Maintenance Parts Tag
To make the replacement of worn items more straightforward, Evenheat has added a maintenance parts tag that lists the appropriate Evenheat part numbers for items likely to require maintenance. This feature is designed to simplify your maintenance process. Isn't this something you wish you had access to long ago?
Strong Stand and Tool Rest
Stands are strong and include a tool rest.Cool!
Power Interrupt Switch - Equipped
The Power Interrupt Switch is designed to enhance safety by automatically cutting off power to all heating elements when the door is opened, and then restoring power when the door is closed.
The switch deployed for this feature is a dedicated safety switch, crafted specifically for such critical applications. This safety switch is robustly designed to forcibly separate and open any contacts that may become welded or stuck together, ensuring genuine safety and reliability.
