What makes the LT Series so special? Here's why...

Stackable Design

The LT Series tempering ovens are thoughtfully designed to stack atop existing Evenheat KF, LB, or KO models, offering a convenient way to save valuable bench space.

Their bases are crafted to fit both current chamfered-corner models and older rounded-corner models, ensuring compatibility even with older Evenheat equipment. However, please note that LT ovens are not compatible with KH models.

Each LT model aligns perfectly with its corresponding depth in the KF, LB, and KO series for a seamless fit.

Please note: The LB heat treat oven shown in the image is for illustrative purposes only and is not included.

Stand-alone Placement

While the LT Series is designed to stack onto an existing Evenheat model, it can also be placed directly on your workbench for stand-alone use.

Please ensure that your workbench is made of non-combustible material and is capable of supporting the oven's weight.

Firebrick Construction

Like all of Evenheat's heat treat ovens, LT models are constructed entirely from firebrick.

Firebrick is prized for its ability to store heat and release it slowly and evenly during the soak/hold phase of the process. This characteristic makes it an ideal material for achieving consistent and precise results in heat treatment.

Cool Touch Handle

The handle and latch on our swing-out door are thoughtfully positioned at the front of the door for easy access, rather than being tucked away on the side. This spring-loaded phenolic handle stays cool to the touch, allows for one-handed operation, and functions as both the handle and the latch for added convenience.

Relay Access Port

All LT models are equipped with a convenient Relay Access Port, designed for quick and hassle-free relay replacement. This is a very nice-to-have feature even on a unit with a standard solid-state design.

That's because solid-state units utilize a mechanical relay as an essential safety feature.

This smart design addresses the inherent nature of solid-state systems, which are never entirely on or off and may generate a slight, nearly imperceptible leakage current to the elements. The mechanical relay resolves this by physically breaking the circuit, completely eliminating any leakage. It activates only twice during a firing cycle: once at the start to allow current flow and once at the end to shut it off entirely. Designed for durability, the safety relay rarely requires replacement, and the convenient Relay Access Port makes maintenance effortless if needed. This is precision engineering at its finest!

Door Shield

The LT models are equipped with a door shield, designed to protect the firebrick from damage while also reducing the heat exposure at the door and handle for added durability and safety.

Icon Controller

All LT models come equipped with the advanced Icon temperature control system.

Built on Bartlett Instruments’ cutting-edge Spark platform, the Icon control features special limits thermocouples for precise temperature sensing and non-metallic faceplates that ensure optimal Wi-Fi reception for seamless use with the Bartlett mobile app.

The LT Series was meticulously designed and rigorously tested in 2023 with input from numerous independent beta testers. These experts were given the freedom to refine the Icon control’s software and hardware, optimizing its performance for low-temperature applications. Their insights were spot-on, and we proudly implemented their recommendations to deliver a high-performance solution you can trust.

Power Interrupt Switch

The Power Interrupt Switch, standard on all LT Series Tempering Ovens, ensures safety by cutting power to the heating elements when the door is opened and restoring it when the door is closed.

This switch is a genuine safety component, purpose-built for critical safety applications. It is designed to physically break apart and open any welded or stuck contacts, providing unmatched reliability and true safety protection.

Are you looking to avoid the hassles and maintenance costs associated with the failure of mechanical relays?

Then it's great news the Quiet Drive Solid State Relay is standard on all of the LT Series Tempering Ovens.

Evenheat confidently anticipates that its solid state relay will endure for the entire lifespan of your unit. Read on to understand why this feature is so critical.

Close up of Evenheat's Quite Drive Solid State Relay System

Understanding Relays: The Solid State Advantage

Solid state relays (SSRs) offer a robust and more reliable alternative to traditional mechanical relays, which operate with metal contacts that open and close via an electrically arcing magnet coil. SSRs, made from solid semiconductor materials, eliminate the need for moving parts and electrical arcing, resulting in several benefits, particularly in kiln applications where superior temperature control is crucial.

Benefit 1 - Longer Lifespan

SSRs' lack of moving parts and absence of electrical arcing contribute to a substantially longer life expectancy compared to mechanical relays. In kilns and furnaces, mechanical relays are often identified by a distinctive clicking sound, indicating wear over time due to constant switching, which can lead to expensive repairs. In contrast, Evenheat's SSRs offer silent, reliable performance over the long term.

Benefit 2 - Precise Temperature Management

Whereas mechanical relays are limited to a minimum cycle of 10 to 14 seconds to balance control with relay lifespan, SSRs operate at a much faster rate of 120 cycles per second. This rapid operation allows for more immediate adjustments and finer temperature control, an advantage fully utilized in all Evenheat control designs.

Benefit 3 - Enhanced Durability of Heating Elements

The KF Extreme Series Heat Treating Oven from Evenheat uses SSRs featuring Zero Crossing technology. This technology switches the relay on and off precisely at 0V during fluctuations in AC power, greatly extending the life of heating elements compared to those reliant on mechanical relays. Zero Crossing ensures optimal voltage for the heating elements, thus maximizing their service life.

Design Feature - 30 Amp SSRs Operating at 15 Amps

Evenheat selects high-quality SSRs rated for 30 amps but operates them at a reduced 15 amps. This provides a safety margin, ensuring long-lasting and reliable performance. Running SSRs at half their rated capacity helps maintain cooler operation under a 15 amp load, keeping them well within their performance curve for optimal functioning.

Design Feature - Externally Mounted SSR Heatsinks

For optimal SSR performance, effective cooling is essential. Evenheat achieves this by mounting SSR heatsinks externally. This placement allows for free airflow and prevents heat build-up inside the unit, thereby avoiding premature component failure and extending the life of the SSRs. The heatsinks are strategically positioned on standoffs to create a gap, enhancing airflow and reducing heat transfer. This design approach has proven successful, with a six-year track record of zero failures.

The verdict is still out on whether a blade fixture is essential for the tempering-only LT models. Some makers prefer to place their materials directly on the oven floor, while others opt to prop them up. The choice ultimately depends on your personal preference and workflow.

For those who prefer a fixture, the MK2 Blade Fixture is compatible with LT models and can hold up to 6 blades for convenient tempering.

Please note: This blade fixture is too wide to fit into KH models.
