Front Access

The hallmark of the Studio Pro's design lies in its easy front access. By raising the chamber, you gain full exposure to the entire base, which is free of walls and remarkably spacious.

This front access feature is ideal for positioning glass: you can conveniently construct your design directly on the shelf and then encase it by closing the chamber. Additionally, this design proves advantageous for tools and techniques that necessitate a horizontal approach, like raking, roll-ups, and various manipulation methods.

Control Center

The Studio Pro 28 smartly separates all its power components from the kiln chamber, placing them instead in a specialized control center located at the back of the kiln base.

This thoughtful design ensures that essential power components are kept away from the chamber's heat, situated in a cooler, less conspicuous area. The addition of this control center represents a notable and positive departure from traditional kiln designs.

2-Position Lid Vent

The Studio Pro 28 is equipped with a flexible 2-position lid venting system.

In its first setting, the vent keeps the lid slightly ajar, about one inch, which is perfect for venting fumes from adhesives and other binding materials used at lower temperatures.

The second vent setting allows the lid to open about four inches, significantly enhancing the kiln's cooling rate.

Fiber Lid Construction

The Studio Pro 28's lid is made from a special fiber material, chosen for its excellent thermal properties and light weight. This design cleverly positions the heating elements on the surface to maximize heat transfer and enhance firing efficiency.

The fiber selected for the lid is notable for its exceptionally low-shot quality. It is further improved with a covering made of no-shot fiber sheet. This dual approach not only makes the lid lighter but also greatly minimizes the likelihood of any debris from the lid falling onto the glass. This feature demonstrates a careful and efficient approach to design.

Maintenance Parts Tag

To facilitate the replacement of components that are prone to wear and tear, Evenheat has incorporated a handy maintenance parts tag on the Studio Pro 28. This tag provides the relevant Evenheat part numbers for frequently needed maintenance items.

Let's face it – how many of us have been wishing that manufacturers had started implementing this kind of feature a long time ago?

Lift Assisted

The Studio Pro 28 comes with a spring lift assist system, making it effortless to open the chamber. This well-engineered mechanism functions both smoothly and securely, guaranteeing that the chamber remains reliably open during use.

In the midst of demanding work sessions, the importance of dependable and effortless operation cannot be overstated, and the spring lift assist feature of the Studio Pro 28 ensures exactly this.

Power Interrupt Switch Equipped

The Studio Pro 28 is equipped with a standard power interrupt switch, which is engineered to disconnect electrical power to the heating elements whenever the lid or chamber is opened.

This function is especially important for users who need to open the kiln during firing, like when performing glass manipulation and roll-up processes.

Controllers

The Studio Pro 28 provides a choice between two temperature controllers: the TAP II and the Icon+.

Each of these controllers, the TAP II and the Icon+, boasts user-friendly touchscreen interfaces and offers extensive programming capabilities.

Icon+

The Icon+ emerges from the highly-regarded Bartlett Genesis framework, setting a new standard in controller excellence. It features Special Limits thermocouples for unparalleled precision, enhanced by a non-metallic faceplate that significantly boosts Wi-Fi connectivity. This connectivity seamlessly integrates with the Bartlett online app, taking the Icon+'s capabilities to new heights.

User interaction with the Icon+ is incredibly intuitive, providing a smooth and efficient experience. Coupled with the advanced Quiet Drive Solid State Relay system, the Icon+ stands out as a unique and revolutionary product, reshaping industry norms.

The Icon+ is the perfect blend of Bartlett's technical expertise and Evenheat's innovative design, resulting in a controller that leads the market with its exceptional performance.

TAP II

The TAP II, a top choice in Evenheat's temperature controller lineup, features a large display and an easy-to-use interface. It simplifies the setup and execution of firing schedules, combining convenience with efficiency. The TAP II's precise engineering ensures consistent results, enhanced by the Quiet Drive Solid State Relay system.

Equipped with Special Limits thermocouples for accurate temperature readings, the TAP II's non-metallic faceplates also improve Wi-Fi reception, ensuring a solid connection to the SDS online app.

Choosing the TAP II means selecting a superior control experience that is both effective and user-friendly. It offers smooth app integration and facilitates precise temperature management, streamlining your firing process.

Exploring Solid-State Relays: The Edge in Modern Kiln Technology

Solid-state relays (SSRs) represent a significant advancement over traditional mechanical relays, which rely on physical metal contacts and an electromagnet. SSRs use a solid semiconductor unit, eliminating any moving parts and thereby removing physical wear, greatly improving temperature control in kilns.

Advantage 1 - Superior Durability:

SSRs have an exceptional lifespan, devoid of the mechanical degradation and electrical arcing typical in mechanical relays, thus surpassing their traditional counterparts. Mechanical relays in standard kilns are often marked by a distinctive clicking sound, a sign of operation and eventual wear that necessitates repairs. In contrast, Evenheat's SSRs operate silently and reliably, significantly extending their service life to align with that of your kiln.

Advantage 2 - Unmatched Temperature Control:

The cycling frequency of mechanical relays is limited, striking a balance between control effectiveness and relay longevity, usually cycling every 10 to 14 seconds. SSRs, on the other hand, can cycle up to 120 times per second, allowing for faster adjustments and extraordinary temperature accuracy. Each Evenheat control system, including the advanced Icon controller, benefits from the rapid cycling of SSRs, ensuring exceptional temperature precision.

Advantage 3 - Extended Life for Heating Elements:

Solid-state relays employ Zero Crossing technology, activating at the zero-voltage point in AC power cycles. This approach prolongs the life of heating elements by maintaining optimal voltage levels, reducing wear compared to mechanical relays that lack this accuracy.

Design Excellence - 30 Amp Capacity:

Evenheat strategically selects SSRs with a 30-amp rating but operates them at a conservative 15 amps. This design choice provides a substantial safety margin, ensuring the SSRs function well within their derating curve even at a 15-amp load, leading to cool operation and prolonged lifespan. This reflects Evenheat's commitment to superior design.

Design Excellence - Externally Mounted SSR Heatsinks:

The longevity of SSRs is crucially dependent on effective cooling. Evenheat meets this need by externally mounting the SSR heatsinks, improving airflow and preventing heat build-up inside the control box. This setup prevents heat transfer between the enclosure and the SSRs, with standoffs creating an air gap for additional cooling. This thoughtful design ensures the optimal performance of the SSRs, supported by an impressive six-year record of zero failures.
