Paragon CT122829 Ceramic and Pottery Kiln

The Paragon CT122829 delivers exceptional capacity, deep-chamber versatility, and dependable cone-10 performance for studios and classrooms that require maximum firing volume. With a 28″ interior diameter and 29″ depth (10.57 cu ft), it is the deepest model in the CT Series—ideal for tall sculptural work, stacked production loads, and large batch firing in educational or commercial settings.

This kiln includes 3″ firebrick throughout, solid-state relays (SSR) for reliable, quiet control, and a vent-ready, pre-drilled base with an AOP (Auxiliary Outlet Plug) for seamless use with an optional Orton VentMaster system. Sectional construction with twist-lock spring latches allows the kiln to be separated into manageable rings for maintenance or moving through tight spaces. Recessed element grooves eliminate pin usage, while the top row of grooveless 2″ blank bricks helps reduce interior wear during loading. A drop-down, hinged switch box provides easy front access for servicing, and the reversible firebrick floor promotes long-term durability. The massive 3″ lid is supported by Paragon’s LiteLid spring system for light, stable, one-hand lifting.

 Which Kiln Voltage Should I Select?

Higher voltage means lower amperage draw and greater efficiency, which can save money long term. 240V and 208V cost the same—most home studios use 240V, while 208V is common in schools or large facilities. Amperage refers to the amount of electrical current a kiln draws—higher amps require heavier wiring and breakers.

What's The Difference Between Single-Phase and Three-Phase?

Single-phase is what almost all homes have. If your facility has three-phase, you can choose either—but three-phase is typically the better long-term option due to smoother power and improved efficiency.

Which Relay Option Do I Need?

Mechanical relays are standard and reliable. Solid-state relays (SSR) offer silent operation, faster cycling, greater precision, and longer lifespan—ideal for frequent or high-accuracy firings.

What Are The Differences Between Kiln Controllers?

What Are Collars For?

Not all kilns can use a collar, but Olympic’s Hot Box kilns can be ordered with a collar to expand versatility. A blank collar simply adds height to the firing chamber, while a bead collar adds the same height and includes a built-in bead or annealing door for quick-access lampwork projects.

What Does The Power Interrupt Switch Do?

This safety feature automatically cuts power to the heating elements whenever the kiln lid or door is opened. It prevents accidental burns, protects elements, and resumes power only when safely closed. (Also called an automatic lid shutoff on Olympic kilns.)
