The Paragon CT122829 Viking is engineered for maximum capacity, reinforced durability, and dependable cone-10 performance in high-demand studio and classroom environments. With a 28″ interior diameter and 29″ depth (10.57 cu ft), it is the largest, deepest model in the CT Series—ideal for tall sculpture, high-volume batch firings, and stacked production loads in facilities that fire frequently and require long-term reliability.

This heavy-duty edition includes 3″ firebrick throughout, solid-state relays (SSR) for quiet and durable control, and a vent-ready base with a pre-drilled AOP (Auxiliary Outlet Plug) for seamless use with an optional Orton VentMaster system. Sectional construction with twist-lock spring latches allows rings to separate easily for maintenance or for navigating tight spaces. Reinforced electrical components, upgraded element pathways, and industrial-grade wiring support faster recovery, consistent cone-10 performance, and extended service life during demanding, back-to-back cycles. A top row of grooveless blank bricks helps reduce interior wear, the reversible firebrick floor maximizes longevity, and the drop-down hinged switch box provides easy front access for service. Paragon’s patented LiteLid spring lift system makes the massive 3″ lid surprisingly light and stable for one-hand opening.

Controller

The CT122829 Viking is powered by the Sentinel SmartTouch Controller, featuring a bright color touchscreen with cone-fire and ramp-hold programs, custom scheduling, diagnostics, and firing logs—giving production studios the precision and repeatability needed for consistent results.

Optional Add-Ons

Furniture Kit: Includes eight C-24H shelves (26″ octagon × ¾″), an assortment of 1½″ square posts in multiple heights, and kiln wash.
VentMaster Kiln Vent: This optional system promotes clearer color development, better heat distribution, and safer operation by removing fumes at the source. It connects directly to the built-in AOP and uses the kiln’s pre-drilled vent port for quick installation.

Higher voltage means lower amperage draw and greater efficiency, which can save money long term. 240V and 208V cost the same—most home studios use 240V, while 208V is common in schools or large facilities. Amperage refers to the amount of electrical current a kiln draws—higher amps require heavier wiring and breakers.

Single-phase is what almost all homes have. If your facility has three-phase, you can choose either—but three-phase is typically the better long-term option due to smoother power and improved efficiency.

Mechanical relays are standard and reliable. Solid-state relays (SSR) offer silent operation, faster cycling, greater precision, and longer lifespan—ideal for frequent or high-accuracy firings.

The following controllers are used across kilns sold by Pottery Pulse. Not all models offer every option—available controllers are listed on each product page. Some kilns include only the standard controller, while most allow upgrades for added precision and convenience.

Not all kilns can use a collar, but Olympic’s Hot Box kilns can be ordered with a collar to expand versatility. A blank collar simply adds height to the firing chamber, while a bead collar adds the same height and includes a built-in bead or annealing door for quick-access lampwork projects.

This safety feature automatically cuts power to the heating elements whenever the kiln lid or door is opened. It prevents accidental burns, protects elements, and resumes power only when safely closed. (Also called an automatic lid shutoff on Olympic kilns.)
