Why Artists Trust Pottery Pulse

Large Enameling & China Painting Kiln — Paragon E12T

Description

Built for artists, educators, and studios needing additional vertical firing space without sacrificing tabletop convenience, the Paragon E12T delivers fast heat-up times, precise digital control, and efficient low-fire performance for enameling, silver and bronze clay, china painting, fused glass, and specialty ceramic applications. Its taller chamber design makes it ideal for glass slumping molds, taller metal clay containers, layered kiln furniture setups, and repeat firing cycles where flexibility and reliability matter most.

The Paragon E12T expands upon the proven E Series platform by providing significantly more interior height than the E12A, giving artists additional room for larger or more dimensional projects while maintaining the same compact footprint and accessible 120V operation. Designed for serious hobbyists, instructors, and professional studio artists alike, the E12T combines front-loading convenience, dependable thermal performance, and advanced digital control in a versatile small-format kiln.

Inside the 8.5" wide x 12" deep x 9" high firing chamber, 2.5" insulating firebrick stores heat efficiently and supports controlled, even cooling for delicate materials such as jewelry-scale fused glass and precious metal clay. Recessed element grooves protect the exposed side-mounted heating elements while simplifying replacement when maintenance is eventually required. The added chamber height allows users to comfortably work with taller molds, risers, and multi-layer firing arrangements that would not fit inside shallower tabletop kilns.

A built-in top vent hole with tapered firebrick plug provides additional flexibility for venting combustible binders and burnout applications such as cork clay and lost wax casting. The front-opening door design offers easy access to delicate workpieces, while the heavy-duty hinge system and smooth single-hand latch help simplify loading and unloading during repeated daily use.

The E12T is equipped with the SENTINEL Touch Xpress touchscreen controller, mounted in the kiln’s sloped front base for convenient access and space-saving operation. This advanced controller supports Ramp-Hold programming, real-time firing adjustments, skip-step functionality, and customizable firing schedules for a wide variety of materials and techniques. A built-in door safety switch automatically pauses the firing cycle whenever the door is opened and resumes operation once the door is closed.

Despite its expanded chamber height, the E12T remains highly portable and operates from a standard 120V household outlet, making it especially attractive for home studios, classrooms, workshops, and shared creative spaces where larger kiln installations may not be practical.

The E12T is especially well-suited for enamelists, metal clay artists, china painters, glass artists, and creative professionals seeking additional chamber height for more ambitious or dimensional projects. Its balance of portability, digital precision, and expanded firing space makes it an excellent upgrade path from smaller tabletop kilns while still preserving convenience and accessibility.

Controller

The Paragon E12T features the SENTINEL Touch Xpress Controller with a responsive touchscreen interface and advanced Ramp-Hold programming capabilities. Easily control ramp rates, hold times, firing schedules, and mid-fire adjustments while monitoring real-time temperature information throughout the firing cycle. The intuitive interface simplifies both basic and advanced firing operations across a wide range of specialty applications.

Current lead times

Please contact us to reach out to the manufacturer for an estimated lead time.

There is currently a firebrick supply constraint affecting several kiln manufacturers, including this model. Because of that, lead times have been extended and can fluctuate.

Rather than guess, we can confirm the current production timeline with the factory before you place your order so you know exactly what to expect.

FAQs - Configuring Your Kiln

There are certain selections you must choose. And then there are options you can click on or ignore. The answers below should help you make the best choices for you.

Which Kiln Voltage Should I Select?

Higher voltage means lower amperage draw and greater efficiency, which can save money long term. 240V and 208V cost the same—most home studios use 240V, while 208V is common in schools or large facilities. Amperage refers to the amount of electrical current a kiln draws—higher amps require heavier wiring and breakers.

What's The Difference Between Single-Phase and Three-Phase?

Single-phase is what almost all homes have. If your facility has three-phase, you can choose either—but three-phase is typically the better long-term option due to smoother power and improved efficiency.

Which Relay Option Do I Need?

Mechanical relays are standard and reliable. Solid-state relays (SSR) offer silent operation, faster cycling, greater precision, and longer lifespan—ideal for frequent or high-accuracy firings.

What Are The Differences Between Kiln Controllers?

The following controllers are used across kilns sold by Pottery Pulse. Not all models offer every option—available controllers are listed on each product page. Some kilns include only the standard controller, while most allow upgrades for added precision and convenience.

Olympic Kilns

  • Infinite Switch – Manual dial control for simple heat adjustments.
  • KilnStar – Digital controller with preset and user-defined programs.
  • Genesis – Advanced touchscreen interface with Wi-Fi and data logging.

Evenheat Kilns

  • Icon – Digital 3-button controller for straightforward firing.
  • RampMaster II – Manual digital controller for ceramic kilns; flexible ramp/hold programming.
  • RampMaster 3 – Updated version for glass kilns with refined interface.
  • Icon+ – Enhanced digital control with expanded profiles and precision.
  • TAP II – Smart touchscreen controller with Wi-Fi, data tracking, and remote access.

Hot Shot Kilns

  • Novus – “Set & Go” controller: set a target temperature and it does the rest (no segments).
  • Spark – Entry-level touchscreen controller with intuitive operation and limited program control.
  • TAP II – Smart touchscreen controller with Wi-Fi and real-time monitoring.

Jen-Ken Kilns

  • Orton AF3P 3-Button – Reliable and straightforward for basic firing.
  • Orton AutoFire 4000 12-Key – Expanded program capacity and fine control.
  • Orton AutoFire Slide Touchscreen – Modern, responsive touchscreen interface.
  • TAP II Touchscreen Smart Controller – Wi-Fi connectivity and real-time data tracking.

What Are Collars For?

Not all kilns can use a collar, but Olympic’s Hot Box kilns can be ordered with a collar to expand versatility. A blank collar simply adds height to the firing chamber, while a bead collar adds the same height and includes a built-in bead or annealing door for quick-access lampwork projects.

What Does The Power Interrupt Switch Do?

This safety feature automatically cuts power to the heating elements whenever the kiln lid or door is opened. It prevents accidental burns, protects elements, and resumes power only when safely closed. (Also called an automatic lid shutoff on Olympic kilns.)
