Building on the trusted SC Series design, the SC3 features a deeper firing chamber than the SC2 models, providing additional space for taller pieces, small bowls, ornaments, and multi-shelf setups. This added capacity makes it an excellent choice for artists who need more room without stepping up to a larger, higher-voltage kiln. Inside, dual side-mounted heating elements ensure even heat distribution across the chamber, while ceramic fiber insulation allows for fast heat-up times and efficient operation.

Designed for ease of use and long-term reliability, the SC3 includes a top vent with a tapered plug for lost wax casting and a ventilated steel case that helps keep exterior surfaces cooler during operation. Electrical components are housed in the base to improve durability and maintain stable performance over repeated firings. The 180° door swing allows for easy loading and unloading, and optional upgrades—such as a bead door with mandrel holder or a glass viewing window—let you tailor the kiln to your workflow.

Not all kilns can use a collar, but Olympic’s Hot Box kilns can be ordered with a collar to expand versatility. A blank collar simply adds height to the firing chamber, while a bead collar adds the same height and includes a built-in bead or annealing door for quick-access lampwork projects.

This safety feature automatically cuts power to the heating elements whenever the kiln lid or door is opened. It prevents accidental burns, protects elements, and resumes power only when safely closed. (Also called an automatic lid shutoff on Olympic kilns.)
